RIP Jesus Corral.  May your soul be at rest and in the hands of God.

Though I didn't know Jesse in high school, we became good friends while our kids were going to school together.  Jesse came to Pasadena from Sonora, Mexico when he was 11 or 12 years old.  He quickly learned the language and enrolled in school.  He graduated with us, studied and graduated from UCLA, met and married his wife, Dora, and settled in Pasadena.  When I met him, he was in the residential development and property management business, living in San Marino.  The Corrals had four beautiful daughters and one son.  Two of the girls graduated from Amherst, one from NYU, and one from USC.  Their son graduated from Art Center.  All have been sucessful in life.  His third daughter was a Rose Princess.

Jesse was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008 and died that same year.  Two of his girls are married, and he has four or five grandchildren.  For a little kid from the Sonoran Desert, he truly made the most of his opportunities in a short lifetime.

Thanks so much George L,

Knew Jesus a bit in high school, quiet and kind, and it did this man's heart well to learn about what a  wonderful family Jesus enjoyed life with.  He was so fortunate.

What a beautiful tribute at a time when so many immigrants are denied access to the US. Jesse and I were both immigrant children whose parents only motive in coming to this country was for a better life for their children and future generations to come.
