Shirley and I both attended Washington Jr. High School (WJH). We did not know each other at that time. I recall when Jackie Robinson visited WJH, and have recently learned he was her God-father. She brought him to school for "show and tell." Awesome!
My memories of Shirley are mostly from PHS drill team. Living on the west side of Pasadena, we were always searching for rides to the east side for early morning drill team practice. Shirley died from complications of leukemia. Her little baby boy was only 3 months old at the time. Shirley may your soul rest in peace.
